Interview with the president of our club
2019. január 10. - ujpestfc.hu
We talked with Roderick Duchâtelet about the last half year and about the spring season.

How would you evaluate the autumn season, are you satisfied with the performance of the team?

I can never be satisfied with the performance of the team. Especially because we all have seen what they can do if they really want it. We should be on the second position now in the championship  and of course we should still compete to keep the Hungarian cup in the Szusza Ferenc stadium.

How did the cup elimination change the goals regarding the team?

It means that now we can focus more on the Championship, a luxury that we did not have in the last couple of years, as we were always fighting to the end in the Hungarian cup.

Do you plan to strengthen the team in the winter transfer period?

Simon is coming back from injury, that is our first important transfer.

I think we have enough quality for a stable performance, which should put us on the podium by the end of the championship. Of course, as usual, we will always be ready to sign a player which is noticeably better than any player we have on that position.  However, at the moment, we have 10 foreign players and I don’t see which Hungarian players we can sign that fulfils this one condition.

How is our youth base development process, what do you think the future of our Akademie?

It is getting better little by little. We already have a few good groups, one very good group and some very talented players. Now we need to work with them to bring them to our first team and beyond.

Which purple-white game did you like the most in the autumn season and why?

The Game against Mol-Vidi, which we won 2-0, as we were finally playing close to what we can.

Do you have some habits or superstitions before Újpest games?

At that time there is not much I can do, it is up to the technical staff and the team. Nothing I could do just before or during the game will influence the result.
